Superyacht surface care—worldwide by arrangement

Oberflächen-Team carries out surface care, polishing and finish correction on visible superyacht exterior surfaces. Work is substrate-led: gelcoat and GRP, PU topcoats, glass, teak and stainless steel each follow their own procedure, always preceded by a technical survey and an approved test area.

Standard

High gloss comes from procedure, not from pressure

On a superyacht the result is not decided by how much compound is used but by the sequence: clean correctly, degrease sensibly, assess the defect, choose the smallest effective step and match the finish to it. Surfaces worked too aggressively look brilliant for a season but lose film thickness—and with it the scope for future correction. The objective is an even, stable gloss image that can be maintained with reasonable effort.

Materials

Surfaces we treat

Gelcoat & GRP

Dull, oxidised or chalky areas are cleaned, built up through graded cutting stages and brought to an even finish—with the least material removal necessary.

PU topcoats & yacht paint

High-end paint systems are sensitive. We work with reduced pressure, controlled stages and an approved test area to preserve film thickness and future serviceability.

Glass & yacht windows

Mineral deposits, salt haze and water spotting are released in a material-appropriate way, followed by a water-repellent sealing of the viewing surfaces.

Teak decks & teak furniture

Fibre-friendly cleaning of cockpit, side decks, walkways and swim platform—without washing out the soft grain.

Stainless steel

Railings, fittings, handrails and trims are cleaned, freed of tea staining, polished and protected to reduce corrosion onset and surface haze.

Non-skid & detail areas

Clogged non-skid and detail areas are cleaned without damaging the texture, so grip and appearance match again.

Individual services in detail: gelcoat polishing, yacht paint care, teak deck cleaning, stainless steel care and glass protection.

  2. 02Defined test area and approval of the procedure before full-surface work
  3. 03Controlled cleaning and removal of salt, minerals and bonded contamination
  4. 04Polishing and finish correction in graded stages, per material

Who we work with

Owners, captains, yacht management, shipyards and refit teams

Owners

Value retention, a consistent appearance and predictable care intervals instead of short-term gloss campaigns.

Captains & crew

Agreed working windows, clear procedures on board and maintenance advice that is realistic in daily operation.

Yacht management

Documented surveys, traceable work stages and reliable scheduling across the season.

Shipyards & refit

Support during yard and refit periods, finish correction after other trades and a clean handover before delivery.

On board

Discreet work and dependable project planning

Work on board often runs alongside normal operations, crew routines or other trades. Working windows, access, masking and sequencing are agreed in advance, work areas are kept clearly contained, and progress is documented in a traceable way. Project data is treated confidentially; we work under NDA on request and use images only with explicit written approval.

Operating region

Regional core—European and selected worldwide projects by arrangement

Our regional core is Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein and the Baltic and North Sea coasts, where we work regularly at the berth, in winter storage and inside a hall. European assignments and selected worldwide projects are undertaken by individual arrangement only—subject to scope, time frame, access and conditions on site. We deliberately do not claim permanent global availability.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about superyacht surface care

Which surfaces are covered by superyacht surface care?

Visible exterior surfaces: gelcoat and GRP, PU topcoats and yacht paint, glass and yacht windows, teak decks and teak furniture, and stainless steel on railings, fittings and handrails. Each substrate follows its own procedure rather than a single universal treatment.

How does the technical survey work?

Before any work begins we record condition, contamination, gloss level and substrate state. The intended procedure is then validated on a defined test area and approved before the full surface is treated.

Do you work afloat, in the yard or inside a hall?

All of these. We work at the berth, in winter storage or inside a hall, and during scheduled yard and refit periods. Working windows, access and sequencing are agreed in advance with the captain, crew or yacht management.

Do you take on projects outside Germany?

Our regional core is Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein and the Baltic and North Sea coasts. European assignments and selected worldwide projects are undertaken by individual arrangement only—depending on scope, time frame and conditions on site.

How discreetly do you work on board?

We work unobtrusively alongside normal onboard operations, keep to agreed working hours and treat project data confidentially. We work under NDA on request, and images are used only with explicit written approval.

How is the result protected after polishing?

After cleaning and polishing, the surface is stabilised with protection suited to the material. This reduces the adhesion of salt, dirt and mineral deposits and makes routine onboard care easier between service intervals.
